The NJWA Forum Rules
« on: June 04, 2007, 11:34:57 PM »
The NJWA Forum
Welcome to your forum! We're all striving to provide a place to come and socialize with your fellow Waterfowlers and other folks  interested in the sport of waterfowling. Like any town, there are some rules that folks must abide by, but generally, if you live by the “Spirit of Waterfowling” you’ll get along fine. That said; please review the following material so you know what pitfalls to watch out for.

Joining The NJWA Forum
You have the ability, as you register, to choose your username. The NJWA requests that you use a username that is waterfowl related, your alias - that can be spoken out loud without profanity or embarrassment, or your real name if you so desire.

The NJWA 'Management'  also requests that you always keep in mind that the content here is Waterfowling related, and try to keep topics and discussions related to the Sport. Remember, Great minds discuss ideas, Average minds discuss events, Simple minds discuss people.

Authority of The NJWA Moderators

The NJWA Moderators are here to help you. While monitoring NJWA, it is preferable to let the conversation ebb and flow unchallenged and unimpeded, sometimes it becomes necessary for the Moderators to intervene.
Moderators have the ability and authority to close, re-open, move, split, and delete topics, along with editing individual posts within the forum(s) they moderate.
Moderators will also communicate any of the NJWA policies directly to the users by posting in their forum(s) or via direct e-mail.  Moderators have a responsibility to ensure that members are following the community rules, to assist new members, and to help with any information when they can.

The NJWA Moderator Responsibilities:

- The Topic is the entire group of messages.
- A Message is an individual’s post within a thread.

Editing Messages:
NJWA Moderators can and will edit messages if it contains any material (including links to other web sites) which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, political, or otherwise in violation of ANY law.
Editing is visible to the community; whenever a message is edited, the date/time/edit and author are shown within the message.

Closing a Topic:
NJWA Moderators can and will close a topic if the message is “beating a dead horse”, at the request of the topic originator, or is an inflammatory “poke of the bear” or “stirring of the pot”. Politics and political postings are guaranteed to get a topic closed or worse.

Delete a Topic or Message:
NJWA Moderators can and will delete topics or messages if the message contains any of (but not limited to) the following:
Any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or you have consent from the owner of the copyrighted material.
Spam, flooding, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and non-topic solicitations.
Defamatory, libelous or slanderous statements against NJWA Moderators, Administrators and its Members, or any business, individual or public entity.
Containing any material (including links to other web sites) which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of ANY law.
Completely off-topic posting in an individual forum and cannot find a suitable place in any other forum.
Politics or political content of any kind.
In a nutshell, a topic will be removed whenever there is no value to the forum that demands leaving the topic/message in place. In most cases NJWA Moderators will e-mail the topic initiator to explain why it was deleted, unless the reason is totally obvious.

Suspension of Posting Privileges:
The NJWA Forum Moderators can and will suspend the account of a user if the user commits to or is responsible for repeated violations of the stated board rules or forum rules, including (but not limited to) offensive behavior (e.g., posting offensive material, harassing other members, spamming, trolling); instigation of controversial issues sometime referred to as “stirring the pot”; driving away other members; repeated attempts to circumvent moderation; direct public challenges to any Moderator, Administrator or Member.

Banning:
Only NJWA Administrator(s) have the authority to ban users. Banning is something that is not taken lightly and will be done only after substantial discussion among the Administrators and Moderators.
Some reasons a user might be banned include attempts at hacking or destroying the forum; repeated violation of the stated board rules or forum rules; the use of multiple user names; the use of “IP spoofing” software to hid your true identity; repeated offensive and rude behavior (trolling); driving away other members; repeatedly instigating controversial issues; repeated attempts to circumvent moderation; direct public challenges to any Moderator, Administrator or Member; verified verbal or written attacks or threats against any Moderator, Administrator or Member in any public internet forum; verified verbal or written libel, slander or defamation against any Moderator, Administrator or Member in any public internet forum.
Banning a member means that he/she can no longer post messages on the NJWA Forum. Normally, unruly members are given a warning prior to actually being banned, since that is a fairly serious step. Only NJWA Administrator(s) can reinstate a banned user.
Banning is accomplished by permanently blocking the individuals e-mail address and in some cases their IP Address. Banning of individuals require a majority consensus of NJWA Forum Moderators and/or Administrators.

Administrator Responsibilities:
The NJWA Administrators can and will assume any and all of the Moderator duties and normally assist the Moderators in the day-to-day life of Forum. Administrators have the ability to ban and/or suspend users, and can and will edit the user information stored and/or displayed in the users profile, avatar image and description, and signature link(s) if any of such information is deemed to violate any of the rules of The NJWA Forum.

Notice: These guidelines cover the basic rules and practices of The NJWA Forum. It goes without saying unique circumstances can and will arise that are not outlined in this guideline that require action by The NJWA Moderators and/or Administrators. The NJWA Forum Users are asked to use common sense, decorum and respect for others when participating on The NJWA Forum.
